Hexa is the AI assistant built into the LazyDogTemplates store — she helps customers find the right template, get accurate pricing, request custom work, and get real support on orders. We put her through a full, hands-on round of testing and fixed what needed fixing. Here's the straightforward summary of what changed.
Why we did this
Hexa's job is to give customers accurate, useful answers about templates, pricing, custom projects, and orders — quickly and correctly, in plain language. Over time a few of her replies had drifted off track. So we tested her properly, page by page and request by request, and fixed what wasn't working.
What's better now
- She understands full requests the first time. No more repeating yourself in short keywords — a normal, complete request like "recommend a pitch deck for a fintech startup" is understood immediately.
- Customer names are captured correctly. Hexa no longer mistakes random words in a sentence for a name, and once given a name, she remembers and uses it correctly going forward.
- Accurate answers about what we sell. Ask about something we don't offer, and instead of a vague "opening it now," she tells you clearly — and points you to what we do have.
- Custom project requests are routed properly. Ask about a bespoke or custom build, and she now directs you straight to LazyDog Studios with a clear path to a real quote.
- Contact requests reach a real person. A request like "please have someone contact me" used to be filed away as a newsletter signup. It's now logged as a genuine request for a team member to follow up.
- Order and payment issues are handled properly. If a customer says they paid but received nothing, Hexa no longer gives a generic "how to buy" explainer — she acknowledges the issue and gives real next steps to resolve it.
- Page-aware answers. Ask about adding a logo on the Invoice Generator page, and you get an invoice-specific answer — not leftover advice meant for a slide deck.
- The "fill my deck" tool gives clear feedback. If content is entered without a design file attached, it now tells you exactly what's missing, instead of doing nothing.
- Accurate, real-time pricing. Ask about one exact product by name and Hexa returns its real price — not a generic "check the page" answer.
- Consistent behaviour across the site. Hexa now responds the same reliable way whether she's on the homepage chat or the dedicated Hexa page, instead of behaving differently depending on where you ask.
See it for yourself
Two real, live replies from Hexa on the site today — not mock-ups. On a store page, a "paid but got nothing" message now gets a real, reassuring answer with concrete next steps. And on the Welcome to Hexa page, a full request is understood on the first try, with no repeating in keywords.
What we're still working on
To keep this honest — Hexa runs on a focused, rules-based system, not a large general-purpose AI model, so improvements come in careful, tested batches rather than all at once. A couple of smaller items are still being worked on, and a few pieces of older wording are being reviewed. None of it affects Hexa's core usefulness today, and we'll keep posting updates as more gets done.
