Why this one works
- Projects have users and stars. 1,800 users and 140 stars are numbers a stranger can verify in ten seconds. That is the whole point — verifiability beats claims at this stage.
- The TA role is written as a job. 120 students, 30 per lab, six problem sets adopted. It is teaching, responsibility and a small durable contribution.
- The hackathon states the field size. "Second place" alone is meaningless. "Second of 60 teams" is a placing.
- Expected graduation year is on the page. Internship recruiters filter hard on this, and omitting it gets you filtered out rather than asked.

Why this one works
- The freelance client is tiny and it belongs. Ten hours a month for a bakery, with enquiries from 12 to 40. Small, real, measured — worth more than a large claim with no number.
- Follower growth shows both ends and the period. 900 to 7,400 in eighteen months is growth. "Grew social media following" is a sentence anyone can type.
- The competition names the field and the role. First of 48, and she built the strategy rather than just attending.
- Expected graduation is stated. As with any internship application, this is a filter field, not a detail.
Sample ThreeStudying · Very little yet
The hardest version — second year, no competitions, no clients, no standout project. Here is what an honest page looks like anyway, and it is enough to get an internship.

Why this one works
- A semester project is enough. Budget, testing conditions, report length, grade. The detail is what makes it credible; the size does not matter at second year.
- Society volunteering is written as work. Setting up equipment for six events is real, practical and exactly the reliability an internship supervisor is testing for.
- Tuition is included. Six hours a week, five students, ongoing. It shows commitment alongside study, which is the quality being assessed.
- Availability dates are exact. "June — August 2026" answers the supervisor's first practical question without an email.
Your CGPA is not the differentiator
Every applicant in the internship pile has a CGPA, and most are within half a point of each other. It is a filter, not an argument — it gets you into the pile and does nothing once you are there.
What separates applications is evidence of having done something with your own hands and being able to describe it precisely. A project with a budget. A society role with a number. A tutoring client. A competition with a field size. Something that happened in the world rather than only on a transcript.
The bar is far lower than students assume. Supervisors are not expecting professional output from a second-year. They are checking whether you finish things, whether you can explain them, and whether you will turn up.
How to write a coursework project
A project title is not a project. Write four things about each one and it becomes evidence:
- What it was and what it did. One clear sentence, no jargon from the course.
- Constraints. Budget, team size, timeframe, equipment available.
- Your role specifically. If it was a team, say what you personally did.
- The outcome. Grade, test results, whether it worked, whether it was selected, demonstrated or reused.
And be honest about scope. A PKR 9,000 solar controller from a second-year student is entirely respectable. The same project described as "designed and implemented a renewable energy management system" is not more impressive — it is less believable, and it will not survive one technical question.
Applying, practically
A few things that decide internship applications and are rarely mentioned.
- State expected graduation year. Programmes are structured around it and it is often a hard filter.
- State exact availability dates. "June — August 2026" not "summer".
- Apply early. Most Pakistani internship intakes fill in February and March for summer. A strong application in May competes for whatever is left.
- Put your GitHub, portfolio or LinkedIn in the header if you have one worth opening — and only if it is worth opening.
- One page, always. There is no version of a student resume that needs two.
- Name the department or team you want if the organisation has several. Specificity reads as genuine interest, and mass applications are obvious.
Small and specific beats large and vague.
